YGTBKM - Gun “Control” Edition
There is an ENORMOUS entry by The Smallest Minority - which I saw referenced on Say Uncle’s Blog - that’s basically a detailed description of the ways in which Emory University Professor of Psychology Drew Westen’s book The Political Brain: The Role of Emotion in Deciding the Fate of the Nation is, well, bunk. (You can find an exerpt, sans commentary, here at Alternet.)
It’s well worth the read, as it addresses not only the ways in the which the author of the book is, erm, mistaken, to put it nicely, but corrects other misconceptions about gun control and the politics involved in general. I enjoyed it.

Also from Say Uncle, a musing on how a politician will ignore one aspect of a situation in support of another - specifically, how someone who’s voted in favor of gun control will vow to try to save a gun factory.
One local business owner questioned if the ideas discussed could become a reality.
I agree.

In our representative form of government, the larger urban centers tend to enforce their will on smaller more rural communities via state government.
Yep. It’s unfortunate. Counties do it, too.

Several other bloggers have linked to this, and even though I’m not very well-known, I figured any kind of publicity for this thing couldn’t hurt:
WISCONSIN PERSONAL PROTECTION REFERENDUM
Help publicize this situation. The only person who seems to NOT want the people of Wisconsin to be able to protect themselves via firearms is Governor Doyle. He’s vetoed it twice. Jackass.
