Squeaky Wheel Seeks Grease

So far, and this is merely a design issue, I hate it.

Really, it’s not THAT different.  Everything’s in the same place.  There are a few news bells and whistles, but they’re like, “oh, okay, why WASN’T that there before?”

I hate the color scheme, because the light blue and white are “too close” for me, so It’s difficult for me to separate the sections visually - I’ve only been here for 5 minutes, and I’ve already got an eyestrain headache.

I don’t like the placement of everything - I’d much rather have the tags (that I need to start using again - I’ve been slacking) to the right of the posting window.

I don’t need that “related” section while I’m posting - if I’m writing a draft, why would I want to manage all categories right at that moment?  Seriously, just let me do what I’m doing now, and make sure I can get to what I need to later.  Don’t tell me what I might want to do while I’m writing a post.  Does that irritate anyone else?  (It reminds me of Facebook’s “people you might be friends with” thing.  If I haven’t already added them, I don’t want to add them.  And when someone figures out how to remove THAT fun factory from my Facebook, let me know, yeah?)

Having the “save” and “publish” buttons to the right is really messing with me, too - and they’re the darkest part of the page, so my eyes keep glossing over them due to the seriously so-light-blue-it-might-as-well-be-white on white.

I mean, functionally, it seems to work.  Apparently there are newer features like posting from email (LJ’s been doing that for years), integrated polling (which I have yet to find, but I have a feeling it’s in the Plugins, and I haven’t looked that far yet - by the way, LJ’s way ahead, again), and a more easily-read “kitchen sink” toolbar.  I’m not dogging the entire thing…just the way it looks really bothers me.  I’m going to see if there’s a way to at least change the color scheme to something a little more friendly to my eyes.  It’s bad enough that I just got used to writing novellas in that other format, and now I have to adjust to this one…I don’t want to have to deal with a headache every time I post, as well.

So basically, this whole post can be summed up with, “Waaaah!  Wordpress gave me a headache!”
