FYI – people seem really confused by this?

An alarming number of people seem to think that my hysterectomy was the solution to all of my medical woes.  (Alarming = nearly 10 that I can count off the top of my head.)

Considering the hype that was placed on fundraising, I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised.

I will admit that not having cramps, [...]

Babesia and Bartonella = gonna have a bad time. (If you’d like to help, please feel free, but this isn’t an official bleg.)

It appears that most of the infections from ticks start with the letter “b” – borrelia is Lyme, babesia is a type of protozoa, and bartonella is more commonly known as “cat scratch fever.”

Then erlichia comes in and screws up the whole alliteration, but that’s beside the point.

I had a follow-up with my [...]

Back to pre-wedding weight. It only took being sick, lulz.

Yesterday, I weighed in at 184.6lbs.  This puts me officially below my wedding weight (which was around 185-186…don’t remember, honestly).

My pants are all too big for me, except a couple of pairs I can wear with a belt.  The ones I can’t wear with a belt…well, they bunch up underneath it and end up [...]

…LOLWUT? (surgery update – LIGHTSPEED AHEAD)

I was told nearly a week ago (September 6) that Santa Claus’s office was going to call me back either that same day, or this past Monday, and have me scheduled to meet with Da Vinci for a surgery consult.

I called Santa Claus’s office this morning and left a message, and Da Vinci’s office [...]

Surgery update…now with 100% more flatulence.

I went to my colonoscopy consult, today.  I was afraid he was going to want to do another physical exam, but he said, “Nah, we’re going to be getting up-close-and-personal with you soon using a camera tube, so we’ll let you go without, today.”  At least…he has a sense of…humor?

I will update you on [...]

Situation introduced, and now broken down a little more calmly.

Erin posted a (slightly panicked) email that I’d sent to her and a couple of other folks, and as she pointed out, I was waiting until I was calmer to post details about what’s happening.

Here’s the sequence with which things have been occurring, and what I’m going to do about the ones that are [...]

Lyme Update! WHARRGARRBL. It’s been a bit.

I went to my Lyme doc, today.

I basically begged him to switch my meds, for two reasons:  the doxy makes me puke, and the metronidazole gives me an accent.

He pointed out that changing my abx would “throw the Lyme off,” which is honestly true, from what I understand, so I’m basically going to [...]

I don’t have a lot of concrete surgery details, just a lot of vague, scary shit. Here it is. Happy Birthday to me!

I had my consult yesterday with the bowel surgeon…the guy who, as far as I knew, was just going to cut scar tissue off of my bowel and free it up so that I could poop properly.

I just turned 30 (I’ve been trying to write this post since like, 1:30am, but I keep dozing [...]

Okay, guys and gals, here’s the first surgery update. There will be much more to come.

First, I would like to give a big ol’ shout-out to Dr. Dan Martin of UT Medical Group.  He’s one of the best doctors I’ve ever had the pleasure of dealing with, particularly in regards to something so unpleasant, and every step of the way, he’s listened to me – this doesn’t mean he’s agreed [...]

A note on disabilities, and an admission.

Today, I was treated to what happens when you try to present a different perspective to a group of people who are dead-set on one mindset.  (If you were privy to this situation, don’t mention it, please – I’m making this post because what I have to say relates to my condition, and it was [...]
