Gun Blog Black List

First update in two days, and it’s kind of depressing. Sorry about that.

I mentioned that I had some stuff to go over at my doctor’s office this morning, and that it wasn’t really a good thing.

Well, to be frank and just come out with it:  I’ve been having seizures.

They’ve happened several times in the past year, and from what I can tell, they’re simple partial seizures.  My recovery time from them varies, but they wear me out for the most part.  I was sacked out on Christmas night at JB’s grandparents’ house after one of them.  THAT was embarrassing.

As far as I can tell, they’re both light- and sound-triggered.  I’m still trying to figure out the specifics.  It’s like vertigo with deja-vu, and my right thumb twitches.  It’s so weird – I feel like I’m trapped in glue or something.

I’m now taking Neurontin in addition to the Cymbalta.  I’m off of the Flexeril, and hopefully that won’t have any negative effects as far as my pain goes.

So the bad news is – seizures.  The good news is – getting appropriate treatment.

Apparently they’re not uncommon for people with fibromyalgia.  So there’s that.  I mean, it’s not awesome, but I feel better knowing that there’s some relationship there, so I don’t have to worry about having a brain tumor or something random like that.

I’m marking everything as “read” on Google Reader.  I don’t have time to catch up with the past few days, and I have an early day tomorrow, so I’m going to bed.

I’ll catch up again later this week.

I hope it’s not triggered by the sound of recoil therapy. That would suck.

  • My brother has also been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. He hasn’t had seizures, but it’s a tough ride. Good luck – I hope the treatment works.

  • Blah! You’ve had a pretty cruddy weeks sounds like. Down with seizures, up with rest and up with good drugs. Oh, to make yourself feel better I second the idea to go shoot something. A lot.

  • ONiNY – So far, it doesn’t seem to be. Loud, low, constant noise seems to be a factor (no more concerts for me), as well as ridiculously loud music (see previous parenthetical note). Recessed lighting bothers me, but bad florescent lighting is a real problem. I’m still trying to figure it out, so that I can avoid things if at all possible that would trigger even a headache. It’s a WIP, but I’m dealing. Thanks.

Borepatch – It’s a total PITA – “tough ride” is a mild description…lol. Thanks – I’m dealing. Things are getting figured out slowly but surely. I’m one of the lucky ones – I got a doctor who’s immediately willing to work with me and try all sorts of different things. Good luck to your brother, too!

Michael – Seriously…heh. It’s mostly just being busy and tired – the other stuff has been happening for a while, and will be happening for a while, yet, so it’s all good, I guess. I’m dealing. And I totally plan to go shooting as soon as I can!
