I am now a resident of a “town” consisting of 4 residents (including myself). I am out in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by corn, soybeans, and cotton. My cats are sequestered in a separate building (it’s very cozy…it’s serving as our living quarters, and our bedroom is in the main house…I’ll post photos at some point, as soon as we get good internet here, instead of the satellite thing I’m using now).
I absolutely adore it.
The only low point of living so far outside of Memphis is the commute to school, but I only have to do that until May.
In two weeks, I’ll be married. I have my dress, my shoes, my veil, my rings, the venue, the officiant, the guests (family), and pretty much everything else. The only things we lack are a tux shirt for JB, and his wedding band.
We have to mail the invitations for the reception this coming week. THAT’S gonna be fun.
The Medifast diet I’m doing? Uh, yeah…apparently my body doesn’t like ketosis. I went to the doctor to ask him about the muscle pain I’d been having, and he pointed out that while a “normal” person would just be a bit tired and maybe a little sore during the first few days of ketosis, and then would get back to feeling as good or better than they were before after they got used to it, I probably wasn’t going to feel any better. He recommended that I use it “more like Slim Fast” instead of as a be-all, end-all meal plan. When I asked what he meant by that, he said, “Eat some bread. Have some milk or cheese. Use the bars and shakes and stuff as occasional replacements, and as snacks throughout the day so that you’re not hungry and don’t scarf your lunch or dinner. Once you get settled after your wedding, walk or ride your bike. You can do this without making yourself miserable.”
So that’s what I’ve been doing. I’ve gone down another belt notch since last week, and while I haven’t weighed myself (I’ve been too busy moving and packing to care), I feel more comfortable in my skin, and my leg pain has died down a lot. I’m still paranoid about my fat and carb intake, but I’m making a concerted effort to not STOP myself from eating a little bit of something just because it has sugar in it. I’m drinking my morning coffee with skim milk (OMG COFFEEEEE). The Medifast stuff helps a lot when I’m on the go. I’m just not going to buy any more when I run out this go-round.
JB’s parents are meeting my dad and stepmom for the first time today. Two weeks before the wedding. SRSLY. My dad and stepmom are coming out here to BFE to eat barbecue and slaw and drink soda and see the place where we’re having the wedding and the reception. This is going to be an interesting evening.
Someone dumped a couple of lab-mix puppies on the side of the road out here, and we’re trying to decide what to do with them. They’re not even 6 months old yet (their testicles haven’t dropped, and yes, they’re both male), and they’re already huge, with big feet. They’re adorable, and they’ve decided that this is home for now, so we’re feeding them and making sure they have a warm pallet at night, but we’re still asking around to see if anyone wants them.
So…if you want a pair of lab-mix puppies (black, with some white spots on the bottom of their paws), let me know. They need their shots, but they don’t have fleas, ticks, ear mites, or any skin problems aside from a couple of scars where they apparently ran through some sticks. Their paw pads aren’t worn slick, and their toes are webbed. They’re bony from being half-starved, but they’ve gone poo, and it’s solid, so they don’t have parvo or anything. They’re drinking water, and haven’t vomited or anything.
Seriously. Let me know if you want these puppies.
I need to get ready for this afternoon’s Parental Meeting Adventure. I haven’t been keeping up with blogs these past few days because of moving and stuff…I don’t know when I’ll be able to catch up. I don’t know when I’ll be updating again, either. I just wanted to drop a line and let you guys know that I’m still here, and things are still moving along quite well.
Hope y’all are doing well.
