Well, I got a lot of mail the past two days!

Some of it was anonymous, because the senders didn’t include a note with their package, so if you’d like to own up to the Shepherd’s Tale/parasol combo, or the full copy of Rocksmith (because while I think I know who sent it, it arrived awfully quickly, with the cord included with the game), please do so, so that I can thank you personally.  Until then, though – thank you!

Thanks to Da TinMan for the metal rose (yeah, the same kind that was in the raffle - he made me one for my birthday – and this is how they’re made, so it’s kind of a big deal, y’all).

Thanks to Joe A. for the DVD (“Done the Impossible:  The Fans’ Tale of Firefly & Serenity”).

Thanks to G.F. from Kentucky for the card and the gift inside.

Here’s a photo of the items received yesterday and today – some were from Operation: Lyme Party, others were “just because” or for my birthday:

Note the Firefly shirt - coincidence, I promise.

Note the Firefly shirt – coincidence, I promise.

The parasol is “stretching” right now (the material it’s made of will make it prone to tearing if it’s not carefully opened, and leaving it open for a bit will help to reduce that chance), but when it’s in the carry pouch, it’s less than half the size of that video game package.

I don’t have a lot of room for stuff – it’s why I don’t ask for things for Christmas or my birthday when asked.  People listened to that, and sent small, easy-to-store items.  I really appreciate that, even though it might seem like a weird thing to be thankful for.

Thanks, everyone!  I’m glad I have stock of bottled water back here, or else I’d dehydrate myself from all the crying (happy crying, I assure you).

    Awesome!

I’m the one who sent the Rocksmith game. I’ve had a blast with it, although I don’t spend enough time with it to really improve. I hope you have fun with it!

    • You were the one who was originally asking questions about it, as well, right? I just want to make sure that I don’t get two copies…lol. That would be neat, but what on Earth would I do with two copies?

Anyway – thank you! I’m looking forward to trying it out, despite my fingers’ lack of dexterity at the moment. That’s part of the reason I wanted it – to try to exercise my hands in a fun way. :-)

      • Dave H

Yes, that was me asking about your preference on Erin’s blog. I don’t think you have to worry about getting an extra copy. Thank you for mentioning it was available on Steam. I’d been waiting for the PC version to come out but hadn’t checked on it in a while. I already have the cable, and hooking it to the PC would be a little more convenient. (I wonder if it’ll run on my netbook. That and a travel guitar would be just the thing when I’m stuck in a hotel on the road.)

That’s a pretty parasol. I was expecting pink, because my wife had a pink one when she was getting chemo. She ditched it for a straw hat because she liked having both hands free.

        • Did you send the cable as well? Or does she still need that?

          • Dave H

Squeaky’s copy included the cable. She’s already got the guitar, so I believe she has everything she needs now. Let the Rock Goddess emerge!

            • I played it for about 30 minutes tonight, and already have blisters on my first three fingers (from “single note” mode – which is…kind of a bummer, but it’s not like I know how to really play guitar, sooo…), but I had so much fun, even while cursing at Radiohead.

I did not realize the game keeps track of your progress and that every single time you play a song, it’s different. That threw me off so badly I said “fuck shit fuck shit shit shit fuck fuck” for an entire song. I got 93% accuracy, though, so…win? Clearly the key to me doing well at something is for me to curse at it relentlessly…lol. I’M SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS GAME. :-D

              • Dave H

93% is very much win! I forget how high you have to score to move on to the next song, but it’s lower than that. I think it took me an hour and a half to unlock it.

The game is tracking your progress even during the song, so if you start missing a lot of notes it’ll send you fewer until you’re able to keep up, then it starts sending more. So yes, plan on doing a lot of cursing. Just try to do it with rhythm. (grin)

  • Parasol and Shepard’s Tale were mine. I forgot that without a note the Amazon gift were anonymous. Hope the parasol stretches out and works for you!

    • THANK YOU SO MUCH. The parasol is freakin’ amazing! I haven’t taken it for a test run, yet, but I plan to ASAP. I might sit out on my back porch with a cup of tea tomorrow to celebrate. :-D

I got through the comic in about 5-10 minutes. It was really good…I wish they’d fleshed it out a bit more, but I liked it. :-)

How do I change my avatar? If you’re going to let me comment, I want to put my aging mug on here too.

    • Make a gravatar.com account with the email address you use to comment. It should come up automatically. Mine’s a camera for that reason – I’ve been too lazy to change it, but it was really easy to do in the first place.
